People across America spend billions of dollars on lottery tickets. In most cases, those proceeds go towards fixing critical infrastructure issues that communities face.
Given that fact, even when you buy a losing lottery ticket, you’re sort of winning. It’s almost like charity, right?
Let’s face it though… Nobody buys a lottery ticket to lose. They buy lottery tickets because they want to win enough money to never have to work another day in their lives.
If you’re a frequent lottery player that hasn’t been able to hit it big quite yet, we might be able to help.
We’ve scoured our local community for tips on winning the lottery and what we learned was pretty darn interesting.
Here’s what you need to know…
1. The More Tickets You Buy, The Higher Your Chances of Winning
A lot of people we know have told us things like, “If you’re meant to win the lottery, you’re going to do so with a single ticket.”
That’s a nice sentiment but in reality, the more tickets you buy, the higher your odds are of winning are. Of course, the more tickets you buy the more you stand to lose as well.
If you look at people who typically win lottery games, they found their success by playing multiple tickets at a time. Take a page out of their book and make sure that you buy two or three tickets the next time you choose to try and win your fortune.
2. Form a Lottery Pool
Buying multiple tickets can get pretty pricey. So what if you could play tons of tickets while only purchasing one?
Sounds impossible, right? Wrong!
People do it all the time via lottery pools!
Lottery pools are when you get a group of friends or co-workers together and each person buys a ticket. Once bought, you’ll throw those tickets into a single bucket. If one of the tickets wins, you all split the winnings.
Sure, you’ll win a little bit less in a lotto pool than you would if you had won the lottery solo. Those reduced earnings won’t matter much though given that splitting 100 million dollars 10 ways still equals a pretty big paycheck.
3. Never Choose Consecutive Numbers
Part of winning the lottery is playing the statistics game. Per that fact, you reduce your statistical odds significantly when playing the lottery if you choose consecutive numbers.
The odds of 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 being pulled from a lottery game is much lower than 7 random numbers getting pulled.
Bottom line, picking numbers at random tends to be a safe bet.
4. Always Double-Check Your Tickets
Thousands of lottery winners never collect their prize. Sounds pretty unbelievable but it’s true.
Many of them don’t collect because they quickly skimmed over their tickets, misread them and assumed that they had lost.
Could you imagine how you’d feel if you accidentally threw out a multi-million dollar ticket because you mistook the number 1 for the number 7? That scenario is too painful to even think about!
To avoid that fate, double-check your tickets before throwing them into the garbage. Heck, we’d even advocate that you double-check other people’s discarded tickets to see if you can cash in on their errors.
5. Don’t Pick Numbers That End With the Same Digit
This tip on winning the lottery is similar to the tip that we outlined in point number 3. Statically, the odds of the lottery pulling two numbers that end in the same digit are much lower than the game picking numbers with different digits.
To increase your winning odds, make sure that you at most have one number that shares the last digit (ex: 24 and 54).
The more diverse your final digits are, the better your odds of winning will be.
6. Try Less Popular Lottery Games
Whenever a lottery game’s prize money swells to a high number, the news starts covering the game and everybody gets enticed to start playing. The more people that play a lottery game though, the lower your chances are of winning.
That’s why lottery experts contend that one of the best ways to increase your chances of winning is to play less popular games.
There are many lottery games that don’t get any publicity that you can play every week. Pick one that has decent prize money and keep your fingers crossed!
You can learn more about the different lottery games that exist online.
7. Play With Lottery Software
If you’re not a statistician, it can be hard to pick lottery numbers that are statistically the most likely to get pulled. Rather than racking your brain trying to pick the perfect combination, give lottery software a whirl.
There are plenty of paid and free lottery programs out there that analyze historical games to determine which numbers have the best odds of being pulled during a future game.
While lottery software is by no means a sure-fire way to win, it is a great way to incrementally improve your chances of getting rich.
